Translate websites in Waterfox for Android
Waterfox for Android can translate web pages into your language. Translation happens on your device whenever possible for privacy.
Translate a page
Section titled “Translate a page”- Visit a page in a language different from your device language.
- If a translation prompt appears, choose your target language and tap Translate.
- You can also open the menu and look for Translate to open the translation panel.
Notes:
- The current tab remembers your choice until you reload or close it.
- You can switch back to the original at any time from the translation panel.
Translate selected text
Section titled “Translate selected text”- Select some text on the page.
- Tap Translate selection (wording may vary) to translate just the highlighted text.
Manage translation settings
Section titled “Manage translation settings”- Open Waterfox menu > Settings.
- In Language or Translations, adjust:
- Whether to show translation prompts
- Languages you never want translated
- Preferred target language
Manage downloaded languages
Section titled “Manage downloaded languages”- Waterfox downloads translation resources as needed so you can translate even with limited connectivity.
- To remove a language and free space, open Settings > Language/Translations and remove the language downloads.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- No prompt appears on a foreign page
- Open the translation panel from the menu and choose the language manually.
- A site looks wrong after translation
- Reload the page, or switch to Show original. You can also disable translation prompts for that site from the panel.
- Language not supported
- Some languages may not be available yet for on‑device translation.
